My creative space...

My creative space is all about shoes lately.  I'm trying to stock up before Christmas, which is looming!  I'm still loving my new red suitcase too, makes a great vibrant prop.  I've made  more of my most popular styles, plus a few newbies, these reversible beauties...

These too...

They're all for sale here and here.

Too cute!!!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted this wee beauty!  It reminds me of a dress my Gran would have made for Mum, or one of my aunties, in fact I'm sure I've seen a photo of mum in a dress with a collar like this.

The coat hanger was another recent op shop buy, I never leave these behind, as I'd love to one day hang all Poppet's dressers on similar hangers.

To see more op shop scores, pop over to Sophie's flea market finds.

Things I'm loving....

Poppet's little posy, picked with Gran

Beautiful blossoms on my dwarf peach and nectarine trees, ready to plant.  Bargain $10 each from my local farmers market!

My Mollie Makes and Cath Kidston mags, all the way from the UK

Gorgeous wee suitcase from Manu Design Store

I'm also loving shops that cater for children!  A big 'Well done' to Benny's Books, in New Plymouth.  They have a great selection of toys in their children's area, a box of books especially for little people to flick through, and a basket of stamps to amuse tired children, while waiting for your purchases to be wrapped...for free.  I've become a regular customer for children's birthdays (I love to give books) and Poppet now knows and loves the children's area.  I loved the Orla Kiely books I spotted the other day... though decided the two year old male recipient would probably prefer something else.

A couple of great online stores worth checking out for Orla Kiely products are... small acorns (great selection) in NZ and Lark (love the mugs) in Australia.

I'm linking up to paisley jades 'things I'm loving' post.

Have a lovely weekend, and as Poppet would say... 'Go, go All Blacks'.

Mellow yellow upcycled sundress...

I set myself a wee challenge with this dress... to use only materials I already had, no quick trips to spotlight, not even for buttons.  I bought the vintage sheets a while back from my favourite local op shop.   The day I wanted to start, I had no time to go to fabric store for lining, I was stretching the wait for lunch/nap time as it was by popping into my local op shop.  But, when I spied the gorgeous yellow fabric at the oppy, I couldn't believe my luck and got started as soon as Poppet was put to bed, with the new idea to get it finished with whatever I had on hand.  I won the vintage buttons a while back in a blog giveaway, the ric rac was found in my trimmings tin and added as a last minute idea, I love it.  When my gran passed away, I inherited all her cottons.  Mum was told 'she'll never need to buy another reel of cotton'.  It's so true!!!  I'm always astounded to find the perfect colour match, and this dress was no exception.

Now we just need some sunshine...(would have been good for the photos too)

One for the knitters...

Firstly, a confession... I can't knit!  But I'd love to know how, and plan to learn. Until then, I'm always keeping an eye out for cute patterns to pass on to my Mum and Mother in law.   One of my favourite books is Vintage Knits for Modern Babies by Hadley Fierlinger.  I absolutely love the Double-Breasted Car Coat, Pixie hat and Apron Dress, though it's little boys patterns I'm looking for now.
This little pompom hat looks gorgeous in blue.

Photos used with owners permission
Hadley lives in my beautiful hometown, Wellington.  She has a website, blog and etsy store if you'd like to read more, or purchase her gorgeous patterns.

Her photographs are just gorgeous too! Cluck, cluck, cluck...

Happy Knitting
